Inter Science Institute Clinical Chemistry Training Program
Inter Science Institute’s Clinical Chemist Scientist Program prepares students with the comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience required to pursue limited licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with a specialization in Clinical Chemistry.
ISI’s Clinical Chemist Scientist Program offers a 12-month curriculum that includes 32 hours per week of laboratory rotations at the Inter Science Institute facility, complemented by six to eight hours of didactic instruction each week.Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate and become eligible to sit for one or more credentialing examinations:
1. Per the California State Department of Health Laboratory Field Services (LFS): California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Passing the ASCP exam allows the technologist to apply for licensure by the state of California. This license must be renewed biannually and requires the completion of 24 units of approved continuing education.
2. American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry (ASCP). Passing the ASCP exam allows the technologist to use MLS (ASCP) CM after their name, signifying certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. They are then registered with ASCP and eligible for affiliate membership.
